What to Know About the Berlin Community
The small community of Berlin is situated directly east of Cullman and less than a ten-minute drive from downtown Cullman. The lush, serene setting allows for a relaxed pace of life and you will find many waterways, ponds and small lakes here as well.
What’s in the Area
Primarily a residential community, Berlin does have a small commercial district centered on the intersection of State Route 74 (US-78) and County Road 747. This is where you will find Walker’s Corner, a local landmark. Walker’s Corner is just across the street from the Berlin Baptist Church and beside the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.
Area lakes include Twin Fork Lake, Forest Ingram Lake and Lake Catoma. The lake has a 536-acre surface area and is a popular spot for fishing and boating. The surrounding area is great for hiking and bird-watching as well.
Berlin is also close to the 159-acre North Alabama Horticulture Research Center, which is a division of Auburn University. Also close to Berlin is CRMC. CRMC is also known as Cullman Regional Medical Center. One of north Alabama’s leading hospitals, Cullman Regional is a 145-bed facility and offers a wide range of services. From cardiovascular services to obstetrics to occupational therapy.
Schools and Real Estate
Berlin is served by schools in the Cullman County Schools system which also serve the Holly Pond Community. These are Holly Pond Elementary, Middle and Holly Pond High.
Single-family homes and land are the main property types in the real estate market in Berlin. Many of the homes here are on large lots defined by mature trees and landscaping. These homes come in a wide range of styles, sizes and price points.
